Teaching the skills of the Rural Craftsman

The school buildings Only ten minutes from Shrewsbury town centre and yet surrounded by gently undulating Shropshire countryside, the school is located at Upton Magna Business Park, Shrewsbury, SY4 4TT where there is plenty of free parking. Still part of the Sundorne Estate, it is a beautifully built farm conversion and is now a classroom with full workshop facilities for up to six students. Quiet dogs are welcome by arrangement with the tutor.

Arriving by car, horse, bike or on foot?

From the North by road: Leave M6 at J20A on M56. At J11/15 take M53 south. After a few miles this becomes the A55. Keep a lookout for the A483 to Wrexham. Turn off the A55 and follow this all the way down past Wrexham. Look for signs to Shrewsbury until the A483 becomes the A5. Follow this diligently through numerous roundabouts. Later, as you get near Shrewsbury, you will find signs trying to entice you into the town. Ignore these until you get to a large roundabout with traffic lights where you can turn right on the fourth exit (the A458 Bridgnorth Road) which will bring you, after two miles, to Atcham. Turn left immediately after the bridge, follow the high wall of Attingham Park to a fork in the road. Turn right carefully here as it is a dangerous turning. Come straight along until you enter the village. Turn left at the Haughmond Inn and next right after the school. Just as you begin to leave the village, the Business park is on your right. There is a large car-park to the rear and the school can be found ahead of you as you walk through a gateway.

From the South and East: Leave M6 at J10A onto M54. Leave M54 at J7 which leads straight onto A5. At the Shrewsbury roundabout go right onto A49 and right again at next roundabout on the B5062. Follow signs to Upton Magna Business Park turning right after two miles to Upton Magna. The business Park is on your left as you enter the village.

From Wales: Make your way to Welshpool and keep on A458 until you get to the A5. Go east on the A5 through seven roundabouts until you come to the A49. Leave A5 at the roundabout and go to the next where you go right onto B5062 (watch for signs to Upton Magna Business Park). Turn right after two miles to Upton magna and the Business Park is on your left as you enter the village.

By bike: The school is a gentle thirty-minute ride from Shrewsbury town along a disused canal towpath and through country lanes. For directions or company see tutor.
